04.03.15 Dream

I tend to try to remember my dreams especially when those are thematic or there’s really something off or weird about it. In my consciousness I know that I’m in that dream and I try to keep a photographic memory of it. And this time, among many others, it was again a success.

I dreamt I was already at the airport with my Mom. I saw my luggage get dragged to the other side of the check-in counter. The woman in the counter asked for my ticket and passport and so I gave it. I gave the ticket but I couldn’t find my passport anywhere. It wasn’t with my Mom nor was it with me. I felt nervous at the thought that I would be left behind. There were only few hours left before the gate closes and the plane would take off.  Without hesitation I told my Mom that I would go back home to find my passport as I barely remembered where I could have left it. I started to look at the time and tried to measure just how long it would take for me to go back and forth the airport. There’s still time – I thought. I could make it if I leave now. And so I ran as quickly as I can passing all the other counters and security checks. I swear I could have passed as a ninja with all the jumping and hiding I did. However, we know that in dreams something weird or crazy is bound to happen. You could be in one place then next thing you know you’re in another world or dimension. You could be having a romantic moment with someone then suddenly the world before you collapses. You know what I mean and how it goes. Dreams are unpredictable after all.

I ran so quickly I couldn’t catch my breath. Much to my surprise I was already outside the airport and the surrounding, well, didn’t quite fit with how urban the place was supposed to be like. I was in a different place. There were hills around me and on one side was a cliff. I recovered from the surprise of a new setting and I ran again hoping to find a way out of that place. Each time I turned I was back to where I started. I breathed heavily and felt my chest tightening. Time’s running out. I need to go home and get the passport otherwise I’ll be stuck here. But I couldn’t find a way out. I kept running and running until I was out of breath. And that was it. That was my dream. I wasn’t able to leave from the hills or maybe even out of the airport. Who knows, I might have even missed my flight. It was all because of my passport. I may have forgotten to take it with me or could’ve purposely left it at home. Who knows, right? I woke up with such a heavy feeling but I kept my eyes closed to remember my dream. It left me with such deep impression and longing. I wanted to know what it meant. I wanted answers.

The main objects or points in my dream were: passport, running to somewhere, and feeling of being left behind. I searched online and I would share the results through these websites.

Passport:

Obviously losing your passport or being unable to find it - especially if you are already at the airport, or on the plane in your dream, or supposed to be on your way to the airport as you're running late - means that you will not be able to take your flight and go on your planned trip.

This kind of dream shows your desire to wander, the need for wanderlust. You are probably going through a personal identity crisis at this time in your life

..if you find that you cannot locate your passport and you are late for your flight, this shows your fears over what might happen if you are not organized enough for the up and coming trip.

..signifies your identity and your ability to cope with various situations. You may going through a period of self-discovery. Often the passport can appear as a symbol of the permission we need to give ourselves or others to move on to new things or situations. To lose a passport suggests we are not committed to such an action.

To see a passport in your dream, signifies your identity and your ability to traverse various situations. You may go through a period of finding yourself and discovering who you are. To dream that you lose your passport, indicates that are trying to find yourself and get a sense of who you are. Alternatively, you may feel that opportunities are being close off to you.

Your identity and freedom of movement. A passport might also indicate your desire to explore something or to have an adventure.

Running:

To dream that you are running alone refers to your determination and motivation in the pursuit of your goals. You will find success and rise above those around you. Alternatively, the dream may mean that you need to hurry up in making a decision.

Trying to reach a goal, so an energetic attempt to get somewhere.

Running without knowing why: Uncertainty or lack of clarity about what you are feeling or expressing – where you are going to or from.

I took the test and here are my answers.

Running toward something " You desire something not in your life”

Fearful " You are afraid of something that may happen.”

In a forest " You are lost and have no direction”

Strangers " You are unsure of who is a friend of not a friend”

To be free " You are escaping some restriction”

Left Behind:

..have a sense of not being the same as other people, or perhaps that you want to go your own way.

Sometimes you will be left behind because your path may need to be altered. The direction you assumed you should take may not be right and the dream is helping you to explore possibilities.

These are the results that I got. Most of these are true to how I feel. What struck me most was how I can relate so well to the meaning of these three themes. Indeed, I may currently be in the process of self-discovery and I need to get ahold of who I truly am as a person. I need to find myself, my identity, and there’s this inner desire to wander and be on an adventure. There’s a need for me to escape into the unknown. In relation to running, I can relate so much with Dr. Phil’s interpretation. I may have been feeling lost and with no direction that is why I needed to run towards something that is not in my life. That is why I needed permission from myself to be free..to get out..to explore. I wanted to run so much to achieve something and be successful. And that feeling of being left behind truly tells that there’s a part of me who wants to go my own way. I may be feeling confused whether this path I am taking is the right one or that there might be other opportunities open for me. I can’t stress enough just how much clarity, and at the same time, confusion, this dream provided me. It projected how I have been feeling in my waking life and turned my dream into snippets of what I may have been afraid of happening or even accepting. I believe that dreams are really projections of how one subconsciously feels and experiences. What one is afraid to admit in reality could show up as one of the many scenes in a dream. I must have been so bothered and pre-occupied with the reality of my waking life that it even followed me in my dreams.
